Swiss Summit Forgotten Even Before It Even Began

19.06.2024

Instead of going to Switzerland, Biden hosted a mega party with Hollywood actors – George Clooney and Julia Roberts are calling to unite against Trump. The old man is crying his eyes out. What Ukraine, which summit? Where is it, at all?

I have just looked through the headlines of main European newspapers – anticipating the headlines focusing on extremely important decisions of the Swiss summit on Ukraine. This is the way it was conceived – to be global and decisive, right?

I was actually expecting they would put it on front pages – it was for a reason our opponent Zelensky urged one hundred and sixty countries to show Russia that the world had, like, stood up to protect Ukraine. The Swiss leadership together with Bürgenstock tourism committee were there to help him, always by his side.

This was a plan as strong as a Leopard 2 armor.

While we were flipping the pages of newspapers looking for at least some information about the decisions the Intergalactic Congress had taken, a somewhat different real picture emerged.

A certain Biden is hosting a mega party with Hollywood celebrities at the same time to gather 20 million for his election campaign – George Clooney and Julia Roberts are calling to unite against Trump. The old man is crying his eyes out. The fund-raising gala evening was ‘a show of force in which leading figures in the entertainment industry sent a clear message’, the U.S. presidential campaign office explained.

But wait a minute, we were waiting for Biden’s clear message at the Ukrainian summit. Well, but he has quite different priorities: what Ukraine, which summit? Where is it, at ll? Everything slipped his mind once again.

The Germans also have a different reality today: there is a thousand persons rally of Islamites in Hannover again carrying approved protest placards saying ‘For Palestine’ and crying slogans about the need to set up a caliphate right in Germany. And a few words about Jewish people.

While they are being dispersed, an axe-wielding terrorist attacks Dutch football fans visiting the Euro Cup right in Hamburg’s Reeperbahn. The man gets shot in live broadcast. A funny championship, indeed.

Much more than the Swiss summit, the Germans are discussing regular polls of political parties’ ratings, with unprecedented results of the Green Party. The Greens have been losing one per cent a week reaching the multi-year bottom of 11 per cent and the Germans are discussing that a party with an 11 per cent worth of support can hardly rule the country. Moreover, it cannot shape its foreign and economic policies.

Brandenburg’s decision to stop payments to Ukrainian refugees also becomes more important than the Summit. Now, this is a painstaking issue for Germans, not the discussion of grain deliveries from Odessa at the summit.

And here we go, on the fourth page of the Frankfurter Allgemeine we at last can read something about the victorious summit in Switzerland. ‘I believe we can make history at this Summit’, said the Ukrainian president several hours before the start of the Ukraine Peace Conference in Bürgenstock.

So, this is pretty it.

Any experienced media analyst can tell that if the event is covered (or not covered) in the press in such a way, this means the agenda in this area has failed.

There is nothing bad in the word ‘convicted’ in this case, this is just to say that not many of the leaders in the photo will get past the next election. So, what is the point in having all these conferences and summits? This is the thing, there is no point.

The Swiss summit was forgotten not just right after it ended – it was forgotten before it even began.
